Guide to the FrontierTV App

FrontierTV App Guide

When it comes to interactive television apps, FrontierTV does it right. There are tons of perks and benefits but knowing what to expect before you download the app can be a bit challenging.

Add in the fact that you can’t use the app until you get a Frontier TV subscription, and it becomes more important than ever to read a guide or two before making your decision.

What Can You Do with the FrontierTV App?

The FrontierTV app is full of possibilities. You can set and manage your DVR within the app, and since it’s available for mobile devices, this means you can set your recordings from wherever you are.

Furthermore, you get access to on-demand titles that you otherwise would only have access to directly on your tv. Whether you’re trying to load your favorite show while working out in the garage or have an hour to kill before your next meeting, the FrontierTV app allows you to catch up on your shows wherever you are.

But it’s not just on-demand content that you get access to; you also can watch over 100 live channels directly through the app, so you don’t have to worry about missing your favorite show because you can’t make it home in time. Or, if you’re just not up for getting out of bed, you can steam your show on your laptop or mobile device straight from the comfort of your bedroom.

System Requirements for the FrontierTV App

While the FrontierTV app has options for PCs, Macs, Androids, and Apple devices, it doesn’t work on every device. That’s because there are specific system requirements for each device, and if you don’t meet the minimums, you won’t be able to run the app. Simply check the requirements below and compare them to your device to see if the FrontierTV app will work for you!

  • iPads, iPhones, and other Apple mobile devices: OS version 10.3 and newer
  • Android mobile devices: OS version 5.1 and newer
  • PC’s and Laptops: Windows 9.1 or 10
  • Macbooks and Apple computers: MacOS 10.13, 10.14, or 10.15

Even if your device meets the system requirements to run the FrontierTV app, you’ll still need to ensure that you have an adequate Internet connection to steam the shows seamlessly.

However, for the on-demand content, you can download it when you have an adequate Internet connection – then watch it whenever and wherever you want even if you don’t have access to the Internet!

How to Download the FrontierTV App

As long as your device meets the system requirements to download the FrontierTV app, it’s not hard to download. If you’re using your mobile device, all you need to do is navigate to the Google Play store on your Android device or the Apple App store on your Apple device.

To access the streaming app from your laptop or computer, simply navigate to https://tv.frontier.com.

Once you’ve downloaded or navigated to the website, you’ll need to link your Frontier television account to get access to all the great content. Once you have established your account, it’s insanely easy to pull up your shows, control your DVR, and everything else you could want through the app.

Pros and Cons of the FrontierTV App

While there are tons of pros to the FrontierTV app, not everything is perfect. Sure, it lets you schedule DVR recordings on the go, and you view live shows through the app, but none of it does a lick of good if you don’t have a regular Frontier TV subscription.

Pros

  • Free if you have a Frontier TV subscription
  • Schedule DVR recordings on the go
  • View on-demand content through the app
  • Access 100+ live channels

Cons

  • Need a Frontier TV subscription
  • Only works on newer operating systems
  • Not all shows can be streamed due to network rules
  • The site will crash and lag if your Internet is not fast enough

Summary

If you already have a Frontier TV subscription, there’s no reason not to give the app a try. It’s completely free and lets you manage, watch, and record your favorite shows no matter where you’re at.

If you’re looking at your different tv options and wanted to know what the FrontierTV app has to offer before making your decision, it needs to be considered a perk. It comes with your television package and gives you everything you could ever want from a mobile TV app.

While it’s not perfect, it’s definitely better than many of the other TV apps out there.
